Elegant Figure-Flattering Cap Sleeve V-Neckline Sheath Wedding Dress
I fell in love with this dress firstly because of the absolutely sumptuous feel of the silk. It has the most beautiful drape and just slips over the body while still granting the wearer an hourglass shape. It is the most luxurious and special-feeling fabric. Though the main makeup of the dress is the silk, there is also a lighter-than-air silk tulle incorporated into the design. The result is a decadent marriage of the buttery silk and the cloud-like silk tulle.
It has a golden age, 20's sort of vibe but is also unique in its modern touches. The v-slit in the front is made for a girl who wants to show off her shoes and add some sexiness. I love that it's not overtly corset-like or traditional in any way but it's sexy and classic at the same time.
This dress feels unique and can provide an elegant canvas upon which you can shine your own personality. She can be gilded-age glamour with some added sparkle and accessories. Or she can ooze sophisticated and minimal luxury.
Accessories
I also have a floor-length veil made of the same silk tulle, it doesn't have a comb attached but has the thread loops to attach one or use bobby pins. The veil has not been worn and I'll include it with the gown.
Fit & Alterations
This dress is an AU6, US2. The alterations done have been to fit a 32 bust, 24 waist, and 35 hip. The train has also been shortened slightly.
There are three finger loops to gather and collect the train. We did not do a bustle due to the delicate nature of the fabric, but I have seen brides incorporate a traditional bustle.
Condition
This dress was NEVER worn for a wedding but was worn for a photoshoot and is like NEW. It has been professionally cleaned and the silk and silk tulle show no visible snags. There is a small split at the seam on the underlayer at the top of the front slit. Not visible while being worn, and is repairable.
If you're worried about bad mojo- even though the wedding we planned didn't happen, my partner and I are very much in love. We did this photoshoot 6 years after our planned wedding and I love the gown even more today! I fell in love with this gown in 2014, worked in bridal for 3 years, have seen and tried on a thousand wedding dresses, and would still choose The Hendricks.
It was in storage for several years but I did not hang it by the shoulders in order to reduce stretching, so time and storage have not impacted the fit or shape.
Finally!!
The photos included were taken in August 2022. I'm so thrilled I was finally able to wear her and show her off to my dashing husband! She wears like a dream and photographs like it as well!
This is a lucky dress. I'm hoping, as I close this chapter, that someone else can enjoy and build their own story with The Hendricks.
