Never before worn beautiful taffeta satin ivory ball gown. Purchased the dress right after becoming engaged and ended up going in another direction with my wedding dress. Only tried it on once! This dress is very slimming through the waist area and perfect for a "pear shape" body. I'm larger through the hips/thighs area and this dress does a great job of hiding that area and accentuating the waist. I am a street size 10/12 and although this is a wedding dress size 10, which is technically a street size 8, I found that it fit me perfectly because of being smaller through the waist.
I ordered an extra jeweled crystal applique, plus crystal buttons for the back. I wanted extra bling! Both appliques have not been sewn on, so you can customize it however you would like. The buttons along the back are currently ivory satin, but the crystal ones can easily be added. Paid an extra $400 for the crystal buttons and an extra applique.
This gown is an abbreviated ball gown silouette because extra tulling and a hoop was added, as opposed to the A-line that the dress was originally designed. The hoop underneath the tulling makes it very lightweight and easy to walk/dance in. The gown looks more like the one in the professional designer pictures because it maintains the fullness of the skirt instead of hanging on the body. The neckline can easily be altered to become a sweetheart neckline.
An extra layer of tulling and a hoop was added underneath the skirt. These alterations were pre-ordered and perfomed by the designer. The lightweight hoop under the tulling makes it very easy to have a ballgown silouette and still be able to dance the night away! The crystal appliques (2 in total) have not been sewn on to the dress making it easy to personalize. Comes with crystal buttons, but the satin ivory buttons are currently on the dress. Dress was not altered in bustline, waist or length.
Dress has been hanging in the original garment bag since it was purchased. Only tried it on once - practically brand new. Smoke-free home in an inside closet.
