Refund policy

Welcome!  Thank you for visiting PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com o/a Nearly Newlywed (hereafter referred to as “NN” and its website is referred to as the “Site”). 

Returns Accepted: when buying a domestic-based item that accepts returns, you can return your item for any reason - just let the NN team know within 72 hours of your package being delivered by clicking the report an issue button in the delivery confirmation email from our system.

 

Return Fee: when buying a domestic-based item that accepts returns, there is a flat $25.00 USD return fee that is deducted from the buyer's refund (the original shipping fee is non-refundable). The return fee may be waived if the requested return is approved by the NN team due to a severely misrepresented item.

 

Return Period: We don't release payment to the seller until the buyer confirms they received the item as described (or 72 hours from when the package is delivered). This means buyers have 72 hours from when they receive their item to inspect it and let our support team know if their item has been misrepresented, or if they need to return it (as per the seller accepting returns).

 

Seller Confirmation: After the returned item is delivered to the seller, the seller has 24 hours to confirm all is well or disclose any issues to us. If we do not hear from the seller we will assume we are ok to process the return. 

 

Return Validity: most dresses and items cannot be returned - it is important to confirm this before you purchase your item. Every seller is a real person just like you and decides if she wants the sale to be final, or not, and will mark directly on the listing in the Return Policy section indicating which it is.  If they accept returns, you can return your item if it doesn't fit or you don't love it. You must click the report an issue button in the delivery confirmation email from our system.

 

Listing fee: The one-time listing fee is non-refundable once your item goes live, whether or not it sells. Nearly Newlywed does not guarantee that your item will sell, or that it will sell within a specific time frame.

Return Process Rules & Limitations

Eligibility

Returns are only valid for items where the seller and buyer are in the same country.

Each seller sets their return policy. Look for one of these notices on each listing:

  • "I will accept returns" – Eligible for standard return (any reason)
  • "I will not accept returns" – Final sale unless item is misrepresented

International sales are final regardless of the seller's return policy.

Important to note:

  1. Issues or returns reported after the 72-hour window will not be accepted
  2. Items returned without approval will not be accepted
  3. Issues or return requests not submitted through our return portal link are not eligible. The “Report an Issue or Start a Return” button in your delivery confirmation email must be clicked to trigger the return process.

Standard Returns

Applies to listings marked “I will accept returns”. You may return your item for any reason, including if it doesn’t fit or isn't what you expected.

  • Reported within the return window: you have 72 hours from the moment UPS marks your order as delivered to review your item and report an issue. The unpacking video is required to verify the items' condition upon receipt.
  • Item must be in original condition: unworn, unaltered, and with tags (if applicable)
  • Original packaging must be used: garment bag and/or preservation box (if applicable)
  • $25 USD flat return fee is deducted from your refund
  • The original shipping fee is non-refundable

Final Sale Items & International Purchases

Applies to listings marked “I will not accept returns” and all international purchases where the buyer and seller are located in different countries. These orders are not eligible for return unless the item is misrepresented.

However, if the item arrives significantly misrepresented, report any issue to our team within the 72-hour delivery window by clicking the “Report an Issue or Start a return” button in the delivery confirmation email. Our team will open an investigation, asking you to provide the unpacking video, picture and a description of your concerns.

Purchase Protection for Misrepresented Items

Applies to both returnable and final sale items where the buyer and seller are located in the same country. You may be eligible for a return or partial refund if:

  • It is not as described or not authentic
  • Wrong item received
  • It arrives with undisclosed damage
    • If the undisclosed damage is repairable, our support team will guide you through your options and work with the seller to come to a resolution that works for both parties - this may include a partial refund if you are happy to keep your item.

Missing Items:

If your item arrives but is missing something that the listing stated it would come with, we will work with your seller to ship the missing item to you. Garment bags are considered to be a bonus item and are not required to be included.

Buyers Remorse

Returns for final sale items are not accepted in cases where:

  • The item does not suit your personal style or was not what you were hoping for
  • The listing description was not fully read
  • The buyer did not contact the seller with questions about the item before purchasing

Doesn't Fit

Review sizing carefully and confirm with the seller before purchasing. All purchases should be made according to the tag size and measurements, not the street size, which is subjective and intended for guidance only.

Acceptable Wear and Tear

Even a brand-new item may show gentle signs of being handled. When a dress is tried on or packaged/unpackaged to ship, it is reasonable to expect some signs of acceptable wear and tear during these actions.

NN considers reasonable and acceptable signs of wear to be typically minor, infrequent, and easily remedied. Each concern is reviewed on a case-by-case basis by our team. Learn more here: Acceptable Wear & Tear Policy.

International Shipments

Orders shipped between countries are final sale. Buyers are responsible for doing their due diligence, which includes:

  • Requesting photos or videos to verify condition and authenticity
  • Confirming sizing, fit, and any alterations before purchase

Transactions Outside of Nearly Newlywed

Only items purchased directly through the NN marketplace are eligible for return or refund.

Refused or Return to Sender Shipments

If you refuse delivery or fail to claim your package (including abandonment at UPS or any carrier facility), your order will not be refunded. Once the item is returned to the sender:

  • You will be invoiced for the cost of re-shipping the item back to you
  • If you decline to pay the re-shipping fee, no refund will be issued, and the item will be stored for you for up to 30 days
  • After 30 days, unclaimed items will be considered abandoned and may be relisted for sale by NN
