Catherine Deane Zahara strapless lace wedding gown. I originally tried this dress on at the BHLDN boutique in NYC in a 4, which was pretty true to size. I wavered a bit too much and kept looking for the perfect dress, couldn't find it, and then thought I could wear this one with a topper to create a combo, but by then it was sold out. I bought this size 2 at the sample sale this spring, but I just can't squeeze into the 2 (I am normally a 6 and I was probably just barely fitting the 4 I tried on in NYC.
No alterations. Length is 52.6" from center back to hem (I am 5'7" and definitely could've worn 3-4" heels with it). Strapless with curved neckline (no gather); zip back with [working] button closure over the zip. GORGEOUS ivory lace (I wound up with a Catherine Deane topper because I cannot resist their lace - it's tunning) over a pale champagne/nude lining.
This dress I presume is a sample, but it is in FABULOUS condition. If you've ever been to a sample sale, you know what I'm talking about - most trains are dingy and torn, and people seem to get makeup everywhere. Not the case with this one. There are a few minor things I noticed, but all but one are internal and would not affect the look of the dress whatsoever - all are photographed and listed below:
- A few small indentations on satin belt (would probably come out with a steam; only exterior flaw I noted)
- Small grey mark on lining in bust area; does not show through to exterior
- One of the detachable straps is missing (these are not straps for show; they're for extra security if the dress is worn under a topper - you or a tailor could easily recreate if needed)
- A few extra stitches in the lining near the zipper; not sure if these are intentional or the zipper was reinforced for trying on
I've tried it on once at home on clean tile and then right back into the garment bag it went.
