I was fitted for and purchased this piece of art from the flagship Jenny Packham store in Belgravia, London, right by Buckingham Palace. Jenny Packham designed the dresses for Pippa Middleton and Princess Kate Middleton’s flower girls when she married Prince William. This is more than a wedding dress, it is a piece of couture history from the same workshop that many of England’s elite have had their gowns made.
Papillon is French for butterfly, and this is an incredibly flattering, empire-waist gown that drapes to the floor in a sparkling, silky cascade like butterfly wings. Four layers of fabric, the bottom two are silky, then silk chiffon and the top layer is tulle 'wings' of different lengths and shapes. Lovely skimming shape that hangs beautifully with side zip fastening.
The Shawl is also Jenny Packham and is made from ostrich feathers and silk lined. I will sell these separate but they were designed to go together. The shawl was custom made and works well for broader shoulders.
The dress is about a size 14/16 but due to the empire line design would easily fit a 14-18. With some alteration it would fit a size 12. The cup size is a C/D so if you are not naturally endowed you may need some padding.
It is an extremely flattering design and the highest quality of silk feels amazing on your skin.
I stepped on a couple of crystals on the train but you can’t notice unless you look really closely and I’m sure you could replace these if you wish. Otherwise it is in perfect condition.
Jenny Packham also designed the bridal gowns for Elizabeth Hurley, Halle Berry and gowns for Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Uma Thurman, Jennife Aniston and many, many other red carpet stars. Packham also designed items for a couple of James Bond movies and the Sex in the City movie.
The dress was $6500 CAD and the shawl was $1,800 CAD.
Selling the dress $2200 and the shawl $900.
This dress was hand stitched in the Jenny Packham flagship store in London and not made under license in another country or as a ‘knock-off’. It is an original piece of couture art.
