I always knew that I wanted a silk dress with straps and a low-cut back. As soon as I tried on this David Fielden dress, I knew this was the one. It is a satin sheath gown (‘Pippa’/4022) with a low lace back and lace trimmed hem. The fabric is a substantial silk that feels incredibly luxurious. The back is quite flattering without being too showy. The dress is incredibly comfortable and easy to transport.
The ‘Pippa’ features a scoop neck and tank straps that frame the chest and neck; the neckline is draped slightly before the bodice gives way to a sleek, continuous silhouette. Just above the ankle, a band of lace joins the satin skirt, revealing the bride’s shoes, and the back of the dress ends in a sweep train.
The back of the dress is a showstopper and features a lace panel, complemented by tank straps which trail down the back like ribbons and are tied at the base of the back. The panel of lace has a scalloped edge and covers the back; these feminine details complement the silhouette of the dress and the luminous silk fabric.
The dress has been professionally dry cleaned and boxed and comes from a smoke free and pet free home.
The tag on the dress says UK14/US10, however the dress runs small. When I wore the dress I was closer to a US 4 top/6 bottom street size. I am 5’11” tall and I wore flat ballet slippers with this dress.
Original retail price was $3,200 – I am selling my dress for $1,800 + shipping. It is a gorgeous piece that looks stunning in photos but is also wonderfully comfortable and serious-dance-party-ready. I still receive compliments on it today!
