I could not have been more thrilled with this dress. Simple and elegant backless silk gown in off-white. Perfect for a petite frame—it did not overwhelm my figure like many traditional wedding dresses I tried on. Flatters curves without being overly clingy. The gown is lined and the silk material is thick enough to wear Spanx, if desired, without revealing any lines, seams or bulges (as I did). I was also able to discretely wear adhesive silicon cups in lieu of a bra (Gap Body was perfect and only $30!).
It was so lightweight and comfortable—I could have worn it for 6 more hours. I got married in June and could not imagine wearing something heavier and more constricting. Being silk, there are a few very minor pulls, which is almost inevitable, but the dress is in good condition, and they are pretty much unnoticeable. I think a professional dry cleaner or seamstress can minimize the pulls, as I've seen Elen personally do on this dress.
It fits through the hips and starts to flare ever so slightly at the thighs. There is a slight train which easily bustles in literally 2 seconds. The bustle consists of a single Swarovski crystal and loop on the train, which unfortunately broke on the dance floor (human error-the craftsmanship of the dress is great—I pulled too hard when someone was standing on the back of my dress). I've already purchased a replacement crystal and will include it with the dress. I'm very confident any seamstress could very easily fix it for a very nominal fee. If you are handy with a needle and thread you could probably even fix it yourself.
I don't care for a lot of details—tulle, beading and lace just aren't my thing. But I absolutely loved the jeweled shoulder straps, which added just the right amount of glam to the dress. It gave it a slightly 20's old-Hollywood look & feel. I opted for a pair of flat sparkly jeweled sandals from Anthropologie, rather than heels, which was not only the wisest and most comfortable decision of the day, but also complimented the touch of "bling" on the straps of the dress. Our ceremony was in a garden, followed by a reception in a 1920's townhouse-turned-restaurant, so the flat shoes were a great option. The dress is still long enough that if you did opt for a low heel (1-2") I think you'd be fine. This dress would be perfect for a beach or garden wedding, untraditional bride, or someone who has classic, simple taste looking for a stunning yet understated gown.
I love this dress beyond words. I live in a small apartment and do not foresee wearing it again, but if I had more space, I'd probably keep it. I hope it brings someone as much happiness and joy as it did to me on my wedding day.
