This is a gorgeous wedding dress that I'm only now willing to part with. It's a very special dress for your very special day. I dragged my friends all over NYC to find a dress. This was the second one I found and fell in love. But of course I had to go to all the higher end stores/dress makers in NYC before I made my final decision. There was no contest.
A number of people at the wedding commented on how beautiful the dress was - often their favorite wedding dress ever. It's a little different so it stands out - off-white with colored embroidery - but not too different. The fact that it was not stark white worked really well for me.
The designer is ROBERT LEGERE. I don't think he still designs wedding dresses but he was a top designer then and he was wonderful to work with. There are actually two pieces to the dress because I wanted a separate shorter skirt for dancing at the reception. The top goes over the skirts and attaches by velcro and snaps. They were very comfortable to wear. The wedding skirt has a train that extends about two feet long.
I'm including the extra skirt. You could use it as I did for dancing, alter it to suit your taste, and/or use the extra fabric for any alterations that need to be made.
I don't have a label size, but I was about a size 12 at the time, or medium-large in the store. By the measurements of the dress, the sizing guide here is showing that the size was a 6 or 8, but I was definitely not a 6 or 8. I was heavier in the legs and smaller in the waist. I'm putting the label size as 12 and street size as 10 to span the possibilities. Please check the measurements and ask me any questions. My bra size at the time was 36C. My height was 5' 4 1/2" and I think my shoes were 1 1/2" high. I weighed about 150 lbs.
The fabric that is the top layer of the dress is tulle which is beautifully embroidered with flowers and leaves. The colors of the embroidery are pink, lavender, ivory and green with gold thread accents. There are about ten layers (tulle, etc.) under the embroidered layer of the wedding skirt.
The top has a scoop neckline in front, and buttons covered in silk that go down the back.
I could find no tears or stains on the dress. One of the flowers on the top does have threads that are a bit loose (see close up photo). There are some other minor loose threads on the dress which may have been there to begin with and can be cut off if they bother you.
